Still Kissin' Frogs

Hi guys. I know I’m not on a lot, and I’ve been thinking, maybe it’s time for me to stop RPing. Or at least take a break until next summer, so it’d be easier to stop. RL is crazy and RPing takes up a lot of time (and sleep) when I’m actually active. Also, my Lottie muse has disappeared just like that. It’s been gone for a while now. I know I’m in the middle of threads right now (Snow and Peter) but it seems like a good time. Sorry guys.

Did she just say that she liked me too? Seriously? He was tempted to roll back over and face her,but he couldn’t do it. At least not yet. ”Wait-You like me too? As in you’ve got a crush on me? A huge one?” He covered his mouth with his hands, afraid he’d said too much, too soon. How’d that last part slip out?

She looked up at the sky, blushing more than ever. At least he like me back, that woulda been awful if he didn’t. “Uh, y-yeah. I guess you could call it a-a huge crush.” Lottie bit her lip and glanced over at Peter to see his reaction.

After hearing her admit that,he couldn’t help rolling back over to face her, his hat coming off in the process. He flopped on to his stomach so he could look directly at her. There was no doubt that his cheeks matched his red hair now, a smile played on his lips. Unsure of what to do he glanced down and tangled one of his fingers in the grass. No, no, no! Stop being so shy! At least look at her!

Slowly he looked up, turning his attention back to her. “Ya know that makes me extremely happy to hear you say that. I must be the luckiest guy here, even though my heart won’t stop pounding in my ears” As loudly as Peter’s heart was pounding it would have given some people headaches, but not him. It made him feel pretty content, just to hear it. Just to be near her like this. Wanting to be nearer…

Her heart was pounding and her stomach was fully of butterflies. She was insanely happy that Peter felt the same way. Lottie rolled onto her stomach. She met Peter’s eye, but couldn’t blush anymore. She laughed nervously. “I’m glad I crashed into ya’ that day. Really glad.”

“Great!” She grabbed her bag and tossed it into the tent. “Give me a minute to change into my bathing suit.” Snow climbed through the door flap and poked her head back out again. “And I guess we should ask someone how to get there,” she laughed. “Is Peter around? Do you think he wants to come, too?”

Lottie pulled a couple bags into her tent. “I’ll change too.” She looked around. “Mayba directions would be a good idea. He was ‘round, and now he’s off somewhere. He might wanna come but I have no idea where he could be.” She dug through her bag looking for her bathing suit.

Her swimsuit wasn’t anything fancy, just a plain blue one-piece, and Snow changed into it quickly, tossing her hoodie and her jeans back over the top and slipping her feet into her shoes. She grabbed her towel and stepped back out of the tent, and loudly enough for Lottie to hear in her own tent. “I saw which way the girls went earlier, so I think I’ve got a pretty good idea of where the lake is. How hard can it be to find, right?”

Lottie found her swimsuit, a pink bikini. She changed, put her clothes back on, and searched for a towel. She found it at the bottom of another bag. Lottie came out of her tent when she heard Snow. “At least we got some idea where we’re goin’. Shouldn’t beh too hard, and we shouldn’t realla get lost…” Too lost….

I’ve never been!” He admitted. “Mhm… Well I’ll try to” He took a deep breath before he spoke next. ” Um… I…. I..l-l-like… y-you” Peter turned over on his side, unable to look at her. Way to go genius…

“That’s always a possibilita’. I wish I coulda slept on the way here.” She held her breath, even though she had a feeling she knew exactly what he was say. When he said it she was completely unprepared. ”I- I like you too Peter. It’s kinda hard not t’.” Oops. Didn’t mean to say that last part.

Lottie looked around as Peter checked his phone. It was a fairly nice day. A little cloudy. The forest looked less creepy now that they were out of it. She looked back over to Peter. He was looking slightly annoyed. She sat down next to him. “Hikin’ n’ kayakin’ alright… They brought kayaks?” Lottie tried not to blush. Her eyes met his and she looked away. “No it doesn’t botha’ me.” She laid back in the grass. “What da ya wanna do?”

“I guess so. Nobody had told me before now. First I’ve heard about it actually” Peter let out a small sigh. Well that’s a relief, sort of. He tried not blush as well, but that was very hard to do. Lottie was pretty, funny, and at the moment everything he wanted. “Talk mostly. There’s been something that I’ve been wanting to tell you, but there’s a problem. I don’t know how to” He laid back in the grass beside her, knowing by now that his cheeks were matching his hair once again.

“Well, ya can’t realla go kayakin’ without a kayak, so they must have ‘em. Wow I just realized I haven’t been kayakin’— or on the wata’— since I was seven!” She shook her head. “Talkin’s good. Oh.” Lottie blushed a little more and struggled to form a clear thought. “Uh… Mayba ya could… Um…”

As beautiful as the lake look from a distance, it looked freezing up close. Less shimmery and more… Icy. Lottie looked around. “Hm…” Where could they be? “There wouldn’t happen to be another lake, would there?” She shrugged as Peter’s phone buzzed.

“Hmmm.. dunno, there might be…” He replied as his attention went to his cell. Apparently it wasn’t a call, but a text. He scrolled down on the screen with his thumb and almost dropped the phone in the wet grass, when he saw who it was from. Rory. Of course… [Hey Pete! We all went hiking and kayaking. Good luck bro! ;)]

He knew she was only trying to help, but this text only seemed to make him even more nervous. To avoid tripping over his own feet, he sat down in the grass. “It was just from Rory. They went hiking and kayaking. Sooo… it looks like it’s just us” Be yourself. Whatever you do, don’t you dare fuck this up… “Um.. that doesn’t bother you does it?” He glanced up at her with hopeful brown eyes.

He stopped as they reached the water, which shimmered when the sunlight hit it. It looked pleasant, but with it getting to be heading towards fall, swimming in it didn’t sound too inviting. At least not to him.

Nobody was in sight either. Great. Just great. His heart started pounding again as he glanced over at her. Then his phone started to buzz. “I wonder who that could be…” He pulled it out to check.

“We’ve been dating for a few weeks,” she explained, trying to toss it off nonchalantly. Her level of success was iffy at best, and she tried to change the subject. “You want to go swimming?”

Lottie wanted to ask Snow more about this Sam person, but she suspected Snow didn’t really want to talk about it. Especially with the super quick change of subject. “Well, I guess I’ll meet ‘im later then! Sure, do you wanna?”

Holding up a granola bar, she continued, “And I have no idea where they’ve gone; I did see Jane in her bathing suit. Seems a little chilly to me…”

“Sam, I don’t know ‘im, but I’m guessing there’s somethin’ goin’ on between you two?” Lottie smiled. She took the granola bar from Snow and tore the wrapper. “Thanks. Maybe a lake? A little breeza’ but I bet it’s a little warma’ in the water.” She took a bite of the granola bar.

“I sorta do. Rory and Jane told me about it earlier. It’s up this way” On a whim he grasped her hand in his. Lottie’s hand felt soft and warm, he blushed as he realized this, but held on anyways. Peter led them both up the hill and made sure to not go too fast, so she could keep up with him. The trees gave off an strange vibe and he hoped she wouldn’t be too freaked out. “Shouldn’t be too much farther” He mumbled.

“Okay, let’s go.” Lottie blushed as Peter took her hand but didn’t pull away. The trees around them were dark and were almost bare. The whole place seemed dead and was creeping Lottie out. She shuddered. “Creepa’ trees… Good.” She couldn’t wait to get to somewhere else.

Just from her words, he could tell she was weirded out. He pulled her as quickly through the woods as possible without making the pair of them trip over something. Which if they, would only make matters worse. “Almost there! Oh good, it’s right down there!” He pointed with his free hand. The lake looked more inviting than where they had been.

Lottie sighed when Peter pointed out the lake. She was so ready to get out of the woods. They were seriously creeping her out for some reason. “Thank goodness! I can’t wait to get outta these woods.” The lakes water was shimming in the sunlight. It almost looked like it was taunting them.

((Hey! I’m back! Sandy didn’t do too much damage in our area. Lots of branches and fences to clean up though. Our old swingset fell over and an old playhouse rolled down our hill in the back and got smashed to pieces, but other than that it wasn’t bad! Did I miss anything super big?))

No, not really. Though, I’m in a huge amount of pain thanks to a M!A.

((Yes I saw that. XD You have to admit, it is a little funny.

“It’s my pleasure,” she replied sincerely. “Let me dig around in my cooler.” She crossed back to her tent and unzipped the front pocket of her food stash. “I’ve got some granola bars and some dried fruit,” she called to Lottie over her shoulder. “I can make a couple of peanut butter sandwiches, but I’m not sure what the meal plan is yet…”

“Alright.” Lottie followed Snow over to her tent and looked around as Snow searched for food. A couple of tents were set up, but most people had just dumped their bags on the ground. “I’ll just have a granola bar. I don’t know eitha’. I’m guessin’ Aurora would know. Did she n’ her roommate plan this?”
